//Who is in your corner?

Who is in your corner?

I have a question for you.

Who is in your corner?

I mean really in your corner.

I will explain what I mean.

I have a girls friend, I won’t tell you who it is in case you happen to know me personally, you might know her too. We don’t want to blow our cover 🙂

We talk pretty much every night. More nights than not we end the day together on WhatsApp, talk about our day, about our kids, about work and all the things around us.

I know that she has my back 100%.

I know that she will call me out on my shit. She does, all the time.

And she knows I will do the same.

We have been through a lot of crap together, and there is no-one I trust more than her opinion, taste and judgement.

She is awesome.

The reason I tell you this, is I want you to think about who this is for you.

Is it a family member?

Your spouse?

It is maybe a group or community that serves this purpose for you?

Maybe there is nobody in your life that plays this part.

That’s ok.

And it’s true for a lot of people.

If that is you, you are not alone,

and best of all, it doesn’t always have to be like that for you.

I will tell you a personal story.

I didn’t always have someone in my corner.

When I was growing up I was bullied.

I didn’t have good or healthy friendships until I was much older than I would like to admit.

And gradually I started looking for my people.

That’s what I called it.

Looking for my people 🙂

So over the last twentyish years I have been on this quest, finding people along the way that are truly my people.

I have high standards, and I urge you to as well, and at the same time resist the urgency and be as flexible and generous as you absolutely can while looking.

Who shares your values?

Who shows up for you?

Who do you show up for?

Who do you listen to?

Who is always happy to hear from you?

Who lights you up?

Who inspires you?

In parenting, as in life, it is essential to have these people in your life.

A space where you can say anything, throw a tantrum and be unreasonable without the fear of being rejected or unwanted.

That’s why I have built The Nest

A place where genuine parents gather to share knowledge, support and the journey of parenting the next awesome generation.

Are you with me?

I can’t wait to see you there 🙂
